On March 11, 2026, Zhejiang tax authorities republished a China Tax News online article about payment-triggered invoicing in Hangzhou. The city is rolling out the model by industry and scenario in high-frequency sectors such as restaurants and gas stations. After a customer scans and pays, the system prefills the invoice data, issues the invoice immediately, and pushes it to the user’s phone, reducing queues and post-sale invoice requests during busy periods. One restaurant cited in the report had issued 430 invoices since adopting the service on January 12, 2026, with more than 75 percent generated automatically.
