Guangdong Advances Strong-Foundation Tax Governance with Smart Self-Checks and Embedded Oversight

On April 24, 2026, China Tax Daily reported Guangdong's progress on the strong-foundation tax administration program. Guangdong pioneered smart filing self-checks, with more than 169,000 taxpayer checks and 1.531 billion yuan in adjusted declared tax amounts, while also rolling out grid-based, escalated, and specialized management models. The province is further extending digital oversight through embedded payment-to-invoice supervision across 14 end-consumption sectors including transport, retail, tourism, public services, lodging, and dining.
