Hong Kong Polytechnic University said on August 5 that it had signed a memorandum with TaxChina Smart Technology to co-build a Joint Research Centre for Tax Artificial Intelligence and promote innovation in finance-and-tax use cases. According to the public release, the center will focus on three areas: building a collaborative framework that combines vertical large models with domain tax models to improve intelligent decision-making, applying federated learning so privacy protection and collaborative training can proceed without moving raw data, and deepening industry-academia collaboration to build a sustainable tax AI ecosystem. The release also says demand is rising for intelligent tax solutions that can fit global tax regimes, while tax compliance is shifting from after-the-fact response to pre-emptive control. The partnership shows AI finance-and-tax capabilities moving from isolated tools toward a more systematic research and commercialization path.
