Guangdong firms race to build the AI computing hardware base

A survey of Guangzhou and Dongguan firms by Yangcheng Evening News shows how Guangdong's AI hardware chain (PCB, liquid cooling, chips) is scaling: the province's core AI industry passed RMB 300bn in 2025, about a quarter of the national total. PCB maker Shengyi Electronics posted RMB 5.78bn in first-half revenue, up 53.46% year on year, while liquid-cooling supplier Wenxuan Thermal saw its AI server business nearly quadruple. Dongguan's tax bureau runs named-list services for tech firms and guides them on R&D super-deductions; Wenxuan received about RMB 11m in export rebates in 2025, with R&D deductions equal to roughly RMB 3.5m in tax savings.

Reporters from Yangcheng Evening News visited companies in Guangzhou and Dongguan to see how Guangdong's AI computing hardware sector took off. Shengyi Electronics produces multilayer circuit boards that go through hundreds of processes; its first-half revenue reached RMB 5.784bn, up more than 50% year on year. Wenxuan Thermal, which makes liquid-cooling parts for AI servers, saw revenue in that business nearly quadruple last year and has added three new production lines, taking monthly capacity to 200,000 units. Dongguan's tax bureau has issued measures supporting high-quality development of advanced manufacturing and serves tech firms through a named list, helping them claim R&D expense super-deductions correctly. Wenxuan Thermal obtained about RMB 11m in export tax rebates in 2025, and its R&D super-deduction equals roughly RMB 3.5m in tax savings at its applicable rate.
