A set of tax data released by the State Taxation Administration shows how technological and industrial innovation are converging. High-tech industry revenue rose 13.9% in 2025 and 14.6% from 1 January to 25 March 2026; scientific research and technical services and IP-intensive industries grew by more than 20% and about 10% last year, then 21% and nearly 11% in the same period this year. Digital and physical economies keep penetrating each other, with core digital-economy revenue and corporate purchases of digital technology both climbing steadily. Demand for AI and computing centres pulled upstream along: in the first three months of the year, IC design and IC manufacturing revenue rose more than 40% and 40% respectively. Lin Guohai, chairman of science-service firm Keyi Wang, attributed the momentum to policy, industrial upgrading and more active businesses; his own company uses big data and AI for knowledge graphs, digital applications and agents, with related product sales up 200% in the first two months.
