Economic Daily: Expanding Smart Tax Service Scenarios - Shanxi Practice

Shanxi's tax authority rolled out a smart tax calculator addressing hot topics such as property transactions, property rentals and personal income tax, precisely computing four categories of tax matters: residential property deals, non-residential property deals, property rentals and personal service remuneration, so taxpayers stop struggling with unclear or inaccurate figures. Signals from local tax work conferences show that using digital and intelligent technology to improve tax service remains a priority, with Beijing, Jilin, Zhejiang, Sichuan and Jiangsu all setting out concrete measures for smart tax and data-driven work.

Shanxi's tax authority zeroed in on what ordinary people care about most, namely property transactions, property rentals and personal income tax, where many taxpayers find the numbers hard to compute and hard to understand. It built a smart tax calculator that precisely works out four categories of liabilities: tax on residential property deals, non-residential property deals and property rentals, plus personal income tax on personal service remuneration, so taxpayers can figure things out themselves. Signals from this year's local tax work conferences show that using digital and intelligent technology to improve tax service remains a priority. Beijing will focus on optimising filing management and deepening data use to ease burdens at the grassroots. Jilin will improve cross-regional and remote filing capability and push service halls to transform alongside the 12366 hotline. Zhejiang will fully implement tiered taxpayer management, speed up smart tax development and keep promoting electronic invoices and its enterprise platform. Sichuan will drive digital transformation of collection, build a tax and fee data sharing zone and expand its tax-electricity index matrix. Jiangsu will accelerate smart tax development and refine its data management system.
